Nicole welcomes you between
It is on the border of Vexin and Normandy, that I welcome you to an old inn which has crossed the last century while keeping its name "Le Pingouin".
Completely renovated in a spirit of well-being and cocooning, it feels like home.
The Penguin is located 10 minutes from Claude Monet's gardens in Giverny where my great grandfather worked there as a gardener, (unfortunately he was not paid in paintings ...)
It is also 10 minutes from the castle of la Roche Guyon, dating from the beginning of the 12th century, this troglodyte place will immerse you in the past during a surprising and enriching visit.
During the week or for a weekend, for a night or a few days, Le Pingouin welcomes you with ease. You have the choice of having a stopover meal with breakfast, or complete autonomy since the kitchen is at your disposal.
A book in each room will tell you the activities and walks to do in the surroundings.
A little history, and especially why Le Pingouin ???
In fact, the hamlet's grocery was sold in 1929 to a certain Alfred .....
Mr. Louis P. who had built a house on the road to La Roche-Guyon, retires and sells his business to Mr. Alfred D. who transforms the building into an inn which he names "L'Auberge du Pingouin", after the famous character from the Zig and Puce series "Alfred the Penguin". Alfred D. will run the inn with his wife and daughter Gisèle, until 1942.
The many owners who followed it have kept this name for decades. And it was only natural that I kept this name when I opened my rooms at the end of 2014.
